Content and infrastructure providers become one

The services industry is facing both opportunities and threats from industry consolidation and privatization. Convergence where integration of content providers and infrastructure providers seen in the case of Telefonica-Endemol;  AOL-Time Warner; and UPC-SBS6 is still taking place.

This phenomenon is not just restricted to the convergence of content providers and infrastructure providers in the narrowest sense of the word but, rather, in is most broad extension. The clear distinctions between content and infrastructure dissipate rapidly, and organizations are fighting for a place in the value-chain over control of the global consumers. This is particularly true in the case of Apple Corporation opening up the iTunes Music Store, rather than just manufacturing and selling I-Pods to take advantage in the change in technology.
