Indian outsourcing service providers are looking to expand

Trend offers new opportunities but also introduces risks

Indian ICT providers are looking to broaden their current portfolio of mostly commodity services. Several developments indicate that they feel ready to provide more complex services to their existing customer base. Organizations currently dealing with Indian providers are advised to take note and consciously monitor the dealings with their supplier in order to manage risks and benefits of this development.

The Indian outsourcing market is still booming. The Indian Chamber of Commerce reported a growth in the export of IT services of more than 32 percent. Indian service providers indicate that they realize most of their growth within their customer base. Growth is not just targeted at increasing current volumes but providers are also expanding into new services. Indian providers are looking at new ways to fighting off competition of nearshore locations (Central and Eastern Europe) and other low cost countries by moving up the value chain.
