The Worldwide promotion of ASL/BiSL best practices and frameworks is one of the most important goals of the ASL/BiSL foundation this year. Therefore an international team is composed including Exin, Van Haren Publishing, Bita-center, Quint Wellington Redwood, Fortis Assurences, Getronics PinkRoccade and the Dutch Police Force.
ASL, the Application Services Library, is currently the only public domain application standard in the world. BiSL, the Business Information Systems Library, the connected series, is a public domain standard for business Information Management. The frameworks provide a specific guidance for managers and end-users in the domain of application management, business Information Management and they align well with other generic frameworks as ISO/IEC20000 and ITIL®.
The ASL/BiSL frameworks are more and more applied by both IT suppliers (using mostly ASL) and end-user organizations (BiSL). They mainly use ASL in outsourcing application management. Both frameworks gain popularity worldwide: recently research has proven that 32% of the CIO’s mentions ASL as method to improve the effectiveness of IT. A considerable lower percentage works with SMMi, the standard for high quality application development.
