It is not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent that survives. It is the one that is most adaptable to change. — Charles Darwin

The above quote best fits the definition of Digital Business Transformation (DX) in today’s enterprises. The message is clear: to remain agile and face competition, organisations need to evolve and respond quickly to market changes. In today’s context, digital strategy of an organisation revolves around major improvements in three areas – Customer Experience, Operational Processes and Business Models.

Given that digital business is not a ‘one size fits all’ approach, with the priorities varying drastically depending on what kind of company and industry the CIO is in, the Digital Business Transformation journey also varies. For example, CIOs in asset intensive industries like manufacturing are likely to start with an inside out, operational excellence driven focus. This will likely take the form of initiatives around the integration of IT with operational technology, leading to an Internet of Things play as their early moves along the Digital Business Transformation journey.

A CIO from a B2C enterprise (for example, in banking, retail or transportation) is more likely to focus on outside-in customer experience and external ecosystem driven initiatives. Both of these approaches should ideally be coordinated with a strong focus on enhancing the digital capabilities within the enterprise as well – called the digital workplace– to create a digitally capable workforce.

The biggest challenge involves creating a vision for the Digital Business Transformation journey, including the reasons why a change is needed. The next challenge is to have the enterprise leaders share and buy into that vision, followed by the cultural transformation needed to get the entire enterprise focused around the execution of that common vision. This seminar is aimed at addressing major Challenges and pitfalls in the Digital Business Transformation journey.
